Changing broken bulb in the automaticconsole

Da, der Wahlhebel für das Automatikgetriebe. Die Anzeige links (P R N D 3 2) soll bei eingeschaltetem Licht eigentlich eine sanfte Illumination ausstrahlen. Tat sie noch nie und da ich Anke grad heut morgen nach Schönberg brachte, von wo sie heut mit Tanja, Mama, Thora und Simone nach Kopenhagen zum shoppen fährt, und ich eh grad wach war, war es um 0600h in der früh fällig. 

 

 

Console illumination is off for the automatic. It should usually glow when lights are on but it never did. I had to drop off Anke in Schoenberg for a trip to Copenhagen with friends and i decided to fix it this morning at 0600h.
Gebraucht werden: Schlitz- und Kreuzschlitzschraubendreher, eine neue 1,2-Wattlampe ( ca.2€/2Stück) und als Gimmick noch den roten Glühlampenlack aus dem Elektronikfachgeschäft für 2,95€. 

 

We need a flat- and a cross-headed screwdriver, a new 1,2W-bulb (ca 2€/2 peace) and as a special gimmick the red bulb colour for 2,95€ from the electronics shop.
Time to unpimp the auto:

 

Ablage leeren. Dann mit dem Schlitzschraubendreher den Teppich rauspulen. Vorsichtig, damit das gute und alte Stück nicht reisst.

Empty the tray. Then use the flat-headed screwdriver to loose the small stripe of carpet and don't let it break - it's old in these type of cars.
Die kleine sichtbare Schraube lösen. Kreuzschlitzschraube. Dann die Holzverkleidung vorsichtig nach oben drücken - Zerbrechlich! Wenn man mehr elektrische Helferlein verbaut hat, muß man aufpassen, das sich alle Stecker untendrunter gut lösen.

 

Loose the small screw you see now. Cross-headed screw. Then pull up the wooden cover carefull - Fragile! If you have more electrical goodies, make sure that all the plugs come off easily.
Man kann nun die Verkleidung ganz abnehmen und zur Seite legen. Der Schaltbock liegt frei. Ich wusste nicht, wie ich wo die Lampe finden sollte, vermutete diese jedoch unter dem Bock. Also nochmal vier Schrauben lösen und kukn. 

 

Now you can lift of the wooden panel and lay it aside. The gearshiftconsole is there and in it i suspected the bulb. Another 4 screws to loose - lets have a look.
Unnötig, denn man hätte die Fassung auch ertasten und so aus der Halterung ziehen können. Leider hab ich recht wenig bis kein Gefühl in den Fingern - da dauert's eben länger.

 

Useless, because you can fumble for the socket and pull it out of the mounting at the top. Badly, i have numb fingers - this let it take a little longer.
Kaputte Birne raus, neue rein, rot anmalen, ankukn. Geht. Noch zweimal übermalen um einen schönen dunkelroten Ton zu erhalten, dann alles in umgekehrter Reihenfolge zusammenbauen.

 

Broken bulb out, new in, paint it red, have a look. Works. Paint twice again to get to a dark red finish, then put all together. Last in - first out.
Das sieht doch geil aus!

Um das ganze noch perfekt zu machen, kann man gleich noch die Lüftungswahlräder abziehen und auch hier die Lampen bemahlen. Smart!

 

To make it perfect, pull of the ventilation-levers and paint the small bulbs underneath also in red. Smart!
EDIT:

Neue US-Rücklichter mit der roten Seitenmarkierungsleuchte sind dran und sehen toll aus.

New US-backlights are added, with the red sidemarker - looks amazing.

Auch vorne wurde eine Standlichtfunktion in den Blinkern nachgerüstet. Alles mit original Mercedesteilen.

In the front the markerfunction was added too, all with original Mercedes parts.
